Community Focus – October 4, 2023
Canton Township will host their annual Diwali Festival of Lights on Friday October 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Summit on the Park Banquet Center. The free community program will include Indian cultural performances, music and dancing, activities for children and photo opportunities. Indian snacks and henna will also be available. 88.1 the Park’s, Lola Mak, talked with Canton Township Trustee, Tania Ganguly, about the festival and the Diwali holiday.

Community Focus – September 27, 2023
The Penn Theatre will present a concert with local Jazz musician, Chris Plum, on November 18, at 6:00 p.m. The proceeds from the show will benefit the Penn Theatre. Chris Plum is a Plymouth based musician. His most recent album, The Small Hours, reflects a musical change for Plum. 88.1 the Park’s Station Manager, Bill Keith, talked with Plum about the show, the importance of the Penn Theatre and his musical pursuits.

The City of Plymouth is presenting a Parks and Recreation Millage to voters. If passed the millage would provide funds to maintain and improve current parks, and potentially add new parks. 88.1 the Park’s, Anya Read, spoke with Plymouth Mayor, Nick Moroz to learn more about the millage.

Community Focus – September 6, 2023
The Canton and Plymouth area faced extensive damage from the storms at the end of August. The Village Arts Factory in Canton faced significant damage from flooding and water back up. 88.1 the Park’s Station Manager, Bill Keith talked with Kevin Ryan, Community Program Director for Canton, about the damage and the effort to recover from it. Kevin provides leadership for the Partnership for the Arts and Humanities and the Village Arts Factory.
