88.1 the Park Staff Members Shine at State Awards

The Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation honored 11 Plymouth-Canton Educational Park students in their annual High School and College Awards Competition. The MABF presented the awards during the Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference and Expo on Wednesday March 8, 2017 in Lansing.

P-CEP students received 11 of the 30 awards presented in the high school radio category. The students received five first place awards in the 11 categories.

“Our students continue to amaze us each year. They are consistently among the best in the state and we couldn’t be prouder,” said Bill Keith, Station Manager.

The MABF received almost 700 High School and College entries in the radio and television competition. The entries came from from over 30 schools.

Plymouth Senior Amanda Barberena also received the WXYZ-TV Broadcasting Scholarship at the conference. She was recognized among current college students for this special honor.

“Amanda is so deserving of this recognition. She is a wonderful leader at our radio station and her impact at 88.1 will be felt for many years. We are lucky to have her on our staff,” said Keith.

The MAB Foundation is dedicated to promote, support and enhance the broadcast
industry for the good of all Michigan citizens, through education, research, public service, historical
preservation, information dissemination and a commitment to diversity in all aspects of the broadcast industry.

WSDP is owned and operated by the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. Students at Canton, Plymouth and Salem High Schools serve as staff members. 88.1 The Park is celebrating 45 years of serving the Plymouth and Canton Communities.
