February 14, 1972 – WSDP Signs On-air
Began broadcasting at 89.3 FM at a power of ten watts.
October 3, 1977 – The Switch
Exchanged frequencies with WEMU (Eastern Michigan University), with WSDP moving to 88.1 FM.
December 17, 1979 – Increased Listening
Increased power to 200 watts, in order to broaden our coverage area and increase amount of listeners.
May 1, 1985 – Mono to Stereo
Began broadcasting with a stereo signal.
May 1985 – Graduating Seniors receive scholarships for the first time.
October 8, 1990 – United Press International
Joined the United Press International (UPI) Radio Network.
March 27, 1993 – WSDP is a Community Achiever
Named a Community Achiever by Canton Township.
May 11, 1996 – $5,000 Auction
Raised over $5000 during our annual radio auction and donated $500 to Community Hospice Services.
April 7, 1997 – USA News Network
Joined the USA News Network.
February 21 , 2000 – Website Version One
Launched the first version of our website.
April 5, 2000 – MAEB Station of the Year
Named Station of the Year by the Michigan Association of Educational Broadcasters for the sixth time in 11 years.
April 12, 2000 – New Web Address
Website shortens address to www.wsdpradio.com.
February 2001 – WSDP Named Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation High School Station of the Year.
February 14, 2002 – WSDP celebrates 30 years of serving the Plymouth-Canton Community.
February 19, 2002 – WSDP Named Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation High School Station of the Year.
March 8, 2004 – WSDP Named Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation High School Station of the Year.
October 6, 2005 – WSDP teams with the Plymouth Symphony on a new program called Salute to the Plymouth Symphony.
February 14, 2007 – WSDP celebrates 35 years of serving the Plymouth-Canton Community.
March 4, 2007 – WSDP Named Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation High School Station of the Year.
November 10, 2007 – WSDP celebrates 35th Anniversary with an Alumni Reunion.
April 22, 2009- The new design of 881thepark.com is launched by Rodney Harris.
March 10, 2010- Text requests start at WSDP! 734-252-WSDP!
December 31, 2011 – The New 88.1 is born. WSDP flips the music format and begins playing Plymouth and Canton’s Hits.
July 14, 2014– 88.1 The Park is named a finalist for the National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio Awards for Non Commercial Station of the Year
July 13, 2015– 88.1 The Park is named a finalist for the National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio Awards for Non Commercial Station of the Year
