88.1 the Park Staff Member of the Month – May 2016

Sam Badger in studio ACongratulations to Sam Badger, Canton Freshman.  Sam is 88.1 the Park’s May 2016 Staff Member of the Month.

Sam is one of our newest DJ’s and he’s been getting better every week.  He also is part of the station’s Community Focus staff.  His two recent interviews with outgoing Canton Public Safety Director Todd Mutchler and incoming Public Safety Director Joshua Meier, were filled with thoughtful questions.

“We’re excited to have Sam on our staff,” said Bill Keith, Station Manager.  “Sam works very hard and is always willing to help make the station better.  As a new staff member he has quickly become one of our top interview hosts.   We’re looking forward to great things from Sam.”

Midha Mashhood speaks with Craig Hane, former Artist Director and Founder of Barefoot Productions.   Barefoot Productions has been providing live theatre for Plymouth for 10 years.  This spring he announced that he was stepping down as Artists Director and is pursuing his dreams as a playwright.  Midha spoke with Craig about his career in theatre, his work founding Barefoot and his future pursuits.

Community Focus – May 25, 2016

Canton Public Safety Director Joshua MeierJoshua Meier is the new Public Safety Director for Canton Township.  88.1 the Park’s Sam Badger, had a chance to talk with Director Meier about his 19 year career in Canton that took him from serving as a Firefighter to the rank of Fire Chief.  Director Meier is the first Director of Public Safety in Canton to come from the Fire Department.  He began pursuing his career as a Canton Police Explorer while he was a student at Salem High School.

88.1 the Park is a Community Financial Thumbs Up for Charity Recipient

Community Financial Check Presentation 2016The staff of 88.1 the Park thanks Community Financial for their support through the Thumbs Up for Charity program.  88.1 finished in second place in the voting among five finalists.  Through the generosity of Community Financial the station received a check for $5,000.

“Community Financial has been a great supporter of non-profits in Canton and Plymouth.  We appreciate their willingness to support us with this very generous gift.  The gift is a testament to the hard work of our students and their passion for serving the community,” said Bill Keith, Station Manager.
