Thanks to everyone that helped make the 88.1 the Park Auction one of our best ever.  Through your generous support we were able to raise over $16,300, and we are very grateful.  Thanks to the businesses that donated items, listeners who bid, parents and students that contacted businesses, and our staff for the hard work on the day of the auction.

This year’s auction reminded us that we’re fortunate to be part of such a great community in Canton and Plymouth.

Congratulations to Clay Martin.  Clay is 88.1 the Park’s April 2017 Staff Member of the Month.

Clay is the station’s Sports Director.  Throughout the year he has been heard on live broadcasts on football, basketball, baseball,  and softball games.  He is also the host of the monthly Women’s Sports Report, that spotlights women’s teams at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park.  He can also be heard Tuesday night’s from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as he shares Plymouth and Canton’s Hit Music.

“Clay has been a great part of our staff since his Freshman year at the Park,” said Bill Keith, Station Manager.  “These four years have gone by so quickly but in that time he has made an incredible difference at the station.  I know he’ll do great things at Michigan State University.”

You can support 88.1 The Park by bidding on a Grand Hotel Golf Outing and many more items during the 29th annual Radio Auction.  Robert Bosch LLC will present this year’s auction on Saturday, May 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

88.1 The Park will broadcast the auction and listeners will be able to call in and bid on items donated by local businesses, with new items available every half-hour. There will be great items to bid on, including autographed memorabilia, restaurant gift cards, and services from local businesses.  A Dream Board with more unique items will be available for bidding all day.

Last year, the station raised over $17,000 and this year’s goal is $18,000.

Anna Brandl has been on the 88.1 the Park staff for a short time but she has quickly made her presence known.  Anna is 88.1’s March Staff Member of the Month.

The Plymouth Freshman can be heard on the air on Thursday’s from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m..  She is also a member of the News and Promotions staffs, and is always quick to volunteer to help with station events.

“I’ve been so impressed by how much work Anna puts into her show,” said Bill Keith, Station Manager.  “She always wants to know the music she’ll be sharing so she can look for interesting things to share with her listeners.  We’re looking forward to the great things Anna will do for the station.”

The latest issue of the 88.1 the Park Newsletter features an interview with WSDP Alum Suzanne DeVenny (Plymouth-Salem ’75).  Suzanne serves on the station’s advisory committee.  You can also learn about the station’s success at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference and plans for alumni reunions. airwaves_no_35
