88.1 the Park Celebrates High School Radio Day – April 26

88.1 The Park uses local radio to invest in the lives of young people and serve the Plymouth-Canton Community. But you might be surprised to find out that 88-1 is located at Salem High School and is run by students at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park.

We know that the students of Canton, Plymouth and Salem High School are fortunate because not every school has a radio station. Because of this unique opportunity, we’ve joined with other high school stations to celebrate High School Radio Day on Wednesday April 26. On that day, we hope to bring awareness to the programs offered on 88-1 as well as high school radio stations throughout the country.

88.1 the Park Announces New Student Leaders for 2017/2018

88.1 the Park is fortunate to have two excellent students taking on major leadership roles at the station for the 2017/2018 school year.

Serafine Hinz and Fiona Hughes will share the top student leadership position.  Serafine will serve as Operations Manager and Fiona will take on the role of Program Director.  They will work together to provide leadership for the station’s directors.

“We are lucky to have Serafine and Fiona in these roles,” said Bill Keith, Station Manager.  “They care deeply about the station and want to see us become even better at serving the community.  I look forward to seeing how the station grows under their leadership.”

Fiona and Serafine have big shoes to fill as they take over for current Program Director, Amanda Barberena.  Amanda will be attending Michigan State University in the fall.

The station will fill other directorships following interviews on Monday April 24.

88.1 the Park Auction – Saturday May 20

You can support 88.1 The Park by bidding on a Grand Hotel Golf Outing and many more items during the 29th annual Radio Auction on Saturday, May 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

88.1 The Park will broadcast the auction and listeners will be able to call in and bid on items donated by local businesses, with new items available every half-hour. There will be great items to bid on, including autographed memorabilia, restaurant gift cards, and services from local businesses.  A Dream Board with more unique items will be available for bidding all day.

Last year, the station raised over $17,000 and this year’s goal is $18,000.
