The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is registering new families for Kindergarten and Young 5s Kindergarten for the 2022/2023 School Year.  Superintendent of Schools, Monica Merritt, spoke with Field Elementary Principal, Latisha Thomas, and Smith Elementary Kindergarten Teacher, Eric Stamper, about the process for welcoming new families to the district.

Moments with Merritt – November 2021

The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is facing challenges finding new employees for positions throughout the district.  This isn’t a unique problem for P-C-C-S, as schools across the country are dealing with staffing shortages.  Superintendent of Schools, Monica Merritt, talks with Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations, Dr. Liz Vartanian-Gibbs, about the opportunities with the district and what makes Plymouth-Canton Community Schools a great place to work.

Moments with Merritt – April 20, 27, May 4, 11

Voters in the Plymouth-Canton Community passed a 275-million dollar bond proposal in March of 2020.  The proposal included improvements addressing equity of facilities, enhancements to  safety and security throughout the school district, furniture and playground upgrades, school bus purchases, and infrastructure and technology needs at most facilities.  Two of the keys for the bond proposal were equity and safety.  Superintendent of Schools, Monica Merritt invited Chief Finance and Operations Officer, Debbie Piesz, and Director of Operations, Tim Gruszczynski, to discuss the progress on the upgrades.

Moments with Merritt – October 2019

The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is committed to providing a safe learning environment for students and staff in the district.  Superintendent of Schools, Monica Merritt, recently spoke with the district’s new Chief Academic Officer, Beth Rayl, and the Director of School Safety and Security, John Walker.  They talked about enhancing learning for all students, professional development for staff, and the importance of safety protocols.

Moments with Merritt – June/July 2019

The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools recently celebrated graduations for the Class of 2019 seniors from Canton, Plymouth, Salem and Starkweather Academy. Their hard work, dedication, and support from their families, has led them to this great milestone in their lives. Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Superintendent, Monica Merritt, recently spoke with three of the students including Canton graduates Fiona Hughes and B. Artis White and Salem graduate Kaia Thomas.  They talked about their experiences in the district, graduation and future plans.
