Community Focus – April 3, 2024
The SJ5K is a student-led run that raises funds to help families facing a medical crisis. The run was started in 2011 by students at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park and has raised over $1,000,000 for over 65 families. 88.1 the Park’s, Anya Read, spoke with SJ5K Co Manager and Canton Senior, Alyssa Calabrese, about this annual run that has become a community tradition in Canton and Plymouth.

The Plymouth-Canton Community Literacy Council has been making a difference English as a Second Language learners in Canton and Plymouth for nearly 40 years. 88.1 the Park’s Mihir Shastry spoke with PCCLC Program Director, Andrea Hug. They talked about the council’s history, work in the community, and impact on English language learners.

Moments with Merritt – March 2024
Gallimore Elementary School is a great example of the wonderful teaching and learning that is happening throughout the district. This past fall, Gallimore staff and students had two significant recognitions to celebrate. First, the school was named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School for the second time, making it one of the country’s highest performing schools. The honors didn’t end there as Gallimore was ranked the number one elementary school in Michigan by U.S. News and World Report. P-CCS Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Monica Merritt, spoke with Gallimore Principal, Aimee Bell and student, Ava Beauford.

Women’s Sports Spotlight – March 4, 2024
The PCS Penguins just wrapped up their 2023/2024 season with an appearance in the State Playoffs against Walled Lake Central. 88.1 the Park’s Sports Director, Andy McLaren, spoke with Penguins Coach, Don Berninger to learn more about the team.
Community Focus – February 28, 2024
Plymouth-Canton Community Schools will host the P-CCS Early Middle College Family Information Night on Wednesday March 6, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Plymouth High School in room 401. P-CCS representatives will be joined by the district’s partner colleges, Schoolcraft and Washtenaw Community College. This will be an open house format with the opportunity to speak with college representatives to learn more about their program. Students apply for the EMC in the spring of their 9th grade year. 88.1 the Park’s, Fahad Arif, spoke with P-CCS Early Middle College Coordinator, Amanda Pelukas, about the program and information night.
