Michigan Philharmonic Koncert for Kids on 88.1 the Park

The Michigan Philharmonic presented their Koncert for Kids, a special performance for all 4th grade students in Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, on May 29, at the Gloria Logan Auditorium. 88.1 the Park will air the concert live on Sunday June 1, at 10:00 a.m.

The concert provided a musical program designed to engage a younger audience and was the culmination of the two year CLASSical Music Outreach program provided by the Michigan Philharmonic for Plymouth Canton Schools. Students learned about different instrument families, composers, the composition process, and conducting (including a “conduct along”!). The featured piece was Andre Myers’ work, Paddle to the Sea, based on the 4th grade curriculum’s literature and social studies book by H.C. Holling and commissioned by the orchestra in 2004 specifically for these performances.

“We love the opportunity to partner with a community gem like the Michigan Philharmonic. These performances are always magical and inspire kids to listen to classical music, sometimes for the first time,” said Bill Keith, Station Manager.
